Pages: 384 |Publication Date: 1986-07-15
ISBN-10 / ASIN: 0822020343
rar'd pdf (combined) | 36,44 MB

I just took the SAT today and I feel that this book changed nothing. Although it has an O.K. grammar section, I've seen better. The analogy and critical reading section were [garbage]. It had nearly no vocbulary building strategies. Plus, the book was outdated.(1986 - please!)This book also knew next to nothing about the tests.(and what it did was outdated) I bought it because it was cheap and covered both the SAT and ACT, so I thought it might be good. Was I in for a big shock! Don't be enticed by the low price, you can find better, newer, updated books on the market.

Description: Verbal Review for Standardized Tests is designed specifically to review, refresh, and reintroduce essential grammar and verbal abilitiesskills.
Much more than a standard grammar review book, this guide is clear, concise, and easy to use, and its focus by test preparation expertsgives insight into the types of questions you'll find on your exam.

An excellent and extensive overview that includes a test-oriented:

* Grammar and Usage Review and strategies to the point of practice in:
o Usage and Sentence Construction
o Writing Timed Essays
o Verbal Ability: Antonyms, Analogies, and Sentence Completion
o Reading Comprehension

Our unique approach not only will review basic skills, but show you how to apply them effectively and specifically on standardizedtests.

If you're taking the SAT, ACT, GRE, GMAT, PSAT, CBEST, NTE, LSAT, PPST, State Teacher Test, or any other standardized testwith a grammar or verbal-skills section, this book is designed for you!

The GRE Test For Dummies (For Dummies (Career/Education))

By Suzee Vlk, Michelle Rose Gilman, Veronica Saydak
Publisher: For Dummies
Pages: 360 |Publication Date: 2009-03-09
ISBN-10 / ASIN: 0470009195
Rar'd PDF ~ 4.3 MB's Bookmarked

Description: A totally effective and surprisingly fun guide to the Graduate Record Examination
In Fall 2007, the GRE Program is planning to implement significant changes to the verbal measure, quantitative measure, and analytical writing sections of the GRE.

This easy-to-use, refreshingly irreverent revision shares inside information on what to expect with these changes, helping both recent graduates and workforce veterans prepare for the revised test, maximize their score, and get into the graduate program of their choice.
It includes all of the secrets of the Internet-based test (iBT)-in which the computer generates unique questions according to correct or incorrect answers-as well as brush-up reviews on math and grammar, two complete practice tests, and proven time-management techniques that make test-prep fun and simple.

Suzee Vlk wrote For Dummies guides to the ACT, SAT, GRE, and GMAT and taught test preparation classes for more than 25 years. Michelle Gilman (Solana, CA) is the founder and CEO of Fusion Learning Center. Veronica Saydak (Solana, CA) is Director of student curricula at Fusion and has been tutoring test preparation at all levels for several years.

This book did a great job of helping to make GRE preparation seem reasonable. I went from knowing nothing about the GRE to 2-weeks later scoring a 1230 (670 math; 560 verbal). The only specific GRE preparation I had was this book. I highly recommend it. If you're someone who is looking for a 1400+ score, the only additional preparation I would recommend is the Barron's word list, which I didn't feel like taking the time to study.

PDF GRE Prep Course with Online Course

By Jeff Kolby, Scott Thornburg
Publisher: Nova Press, Pages: 624, Date: 2003-02
ISBN-10: 188905710X, PDF, 7.17 MB

I had both the Kaplan and Princeton Review books. But the Nova GRE prep was by far the most thorough guide. Warning...this book is not for the weak...there's not a whole lot of white space in it. While princeton review is great if you want quick strategies, I think the Nova is best for those who really have the time to study for the GRE.

Also in terms of difficulty, the problem sets in nova are more complex I think.. and the math is a bit more challenging, compared to the Kaplan and Princeton Review books. I only wish I had started with and focused completely on the nova prep guide.

I felt like I had wasted my time on the other two books because of the name. The other two have good stuff, but I'm saying if you really want to drill yourself and if you've been away from math and words for very long, go with the nova...it will get you up to speed if you take the time to go through it. there are a couple of mistakes here and there in the book but not enough to detract from the overall value. Man I wish I started on Nova sooner!!!

By Arco

Pages: 352, Publication Date: 2002-12-18

There is no way you'll be able to memorize all the essays in this book so if that's what you're looking for, forget it. If, however, you are looking for tips on how to prepare for the essay portion of the GRE,

common themes you'll find, and you want to review well thought out essays for every possible essay topic (just to get ideas and to get your creative juices flowing),

this is the book for you. I thoroughly enjoyed using it as a study guide and found myself well prepared when I actually sat down to complete this portion of the GRE. As I wrote, so many ideas came to me, many of which were touched on in the book. My score was a 6.0!

This is accomplished by teaching students how to:

Improve scores by studying the topics most likely to appear on the test
Sharpen skills in TPR's biology lab
Get ahead with Word Watch, TPR's list of terms that frequently appear on the test

*This book includes a full-length simulated GRE Biology test. All of The Princeton Review's sample test questions are like the ones test-takers will see on the actual GRE Biology test, and every solution is fully explained.

Book and CD-Rom For Kaplan GRE Exam 2006, Premier Program

By Kaplan
Publisher: Kaplan Publishing
Pages: 432, Publication Date: 2005-06-28
Size: 30.51 MB

Supposed to be instucting us toward "flawless" GRE performance??? How can they charge that much for something with an inexcusable number of errors? I printed the corrections sheet from their website which covered only a few of the many errors in the book.

In the section on "tricks" to doing GRE math problems, I found ways to solve the the practice problems that were missed in the answers section! (And I didn't do all that well on the math part of the test.) What does this tell us about the level of the people writing the answers?! Sorry, but it's just annoying! These people are making the big bucks off all of us!
